The Intuitive ADHD Coach

Hello, I am Natalie and I am so glad you are here.

I expect that you are here because you are either questioning if you are ADHD, are awaiting diagnosis or are already diagnosed and you are looking for some support with the struggles that can come with having a brain that works differently. Firstly, I just want you to know, that I get it, especially from the perspective of being late diagnosed. Let me tell you a little bit about my journey (I mean, I say a little but I am bound to say lots and totally overshare!).

As a youngster, I was known as Scatty Natty. I was that chatty, confident, bubbly, sociable child who wanted to be everybody's friend. I loved performing, I loved being creative, I loved being around people. But I also have distict memories of always feeling like I wasn't really liked. I wasn't really accepted. That I was too much and that I needed to not be my full self. Despite being overtly confident, I massively struggled with low self esteem and self belief.

For such a long time I considered myself to be a complete contradiction and I really struggled to work out who I really was. I have always been incredibly self questioning and this led me to my first experience of counselling when I was 18. Since this time, I have had a lot of different types of counselling, mostly because I have always felt like I was broken. I felt like there was something wrong with me and that I needed fixing. Sound familiar?

Over the last year, I have finally been able to make sense of all of this and recognised that I have an ADHD brain. This realisation has made sense of so many things for me and so at age 40, I was diagnosed with Combined ADHD.

So many of my struggles through out life have been because I have been navigating life with a neurodivergent brain and no one ever knew. It is only since my son has been going through the process of being assessed for ADHD that it has opened up my eyes to how women present with ADHD and it has been absolutely revolutionary for me in terms of my understanding of myself.

So much finally makes sense.

All of the years of being a brilliant performer, but being labelled as 'too dramatic'. Being incredibly sociable but being told I was 'too chatty, too distractible and that I just needed to focus'. Being intelligent but never really fulfilling my 'full potential' because I either didn't complete projects or couldn't focus properly on what I needed to do. All of the years of doing my coursework the night before it was due in, because I just couldn't do it in 'good time'. All of the times that I felt like people didn't really like me, or that I had done something wrong. Being labeled as 'too sensitive'. Realising this is Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria has been life changing. Feeling like my whole life I have had to fight and struggle to do things that just seem pretty easy to everyone else. But also having a huge amount of resilience and the ability to just throw myself into so many different situations with relative ease. Having about 20 different jobs since I left school because I just couldn't find a career that felt right for me but also beating myself up for not being able to 'stick to one thing'. Feeling constantly exhausted, regardless of how much sleep I have had. But also having bursts of energy that seem to come from no-where. Totally inconsistent energy.

It all now makes sense when it is viewed through the lens of ADHD and I am so grateful that I can finally feel like I have found the answers that I have been looking for my whole life.

Does this sound similar to your experiences? Book in a free call with me to chat through how I can help you to unburden some of the conditioning you have experienced having a brain and nervous system that is wired differently.

Not just any old coach!

I understand when you are looking for support, it can feel quite overwhelming and there are a lot of people who are offering support with little or no professional qualifications or experience. There are courses available for £10 that people can do to 'become a certified coach'. It is incredibly scary that this is even possible due to it being an unregulated industry. This is why it is important to properly check that anyone you work with is working ethically and has proper qualifications and experience, to make sure they are properly equipped to support you.

So what can I offer you?

I have qualified as a Master Intuitive Psychology Coach, which is an Accredited Advanced Diploma in Coach Training by The Association for Coaching. This is the highest qualification available in coaching and I am an Associate Member of The Association for Coaching.

I have completed a certificate in ADHD Coaching to ensure that I have the relevant certification in this field. However, to be completely honest with you, this certification works on very traditional ADHD coaching methods of finding 'strategies' to cope with ADHD rather than the work that I do. It means I have awareness of strategies and methods that could help, but this is not what I believe will actually help many people with ADHD. These strategies often just create even more overwhelm and things to do. If there are strategies that I think could be helpful and wouldn't cause more overwhelm, I will always weave these in. But it is always in a very person-centred way, not just because this is 'the' strategy for the specific struggle.

Outside of my coaching practice, I work part time for an NHS commissioned service called The Emotional Wellbeing Service as a Mental Health Recovery Worker. I help support people who are struggling with low level mental health and emotional wellbeing struggles such as depression, anxiety, stress etc to find coping strategies to help them to improve their quality of life. I use a lot of different methods to support people in this work and I can bring these methods to our coaching work if it is relevant.

I am DBS checked and I continually engage in CPD to ensure I am up to date with all relevant training. You can see a full list of my qualifications and CPD below to show that I work ethically and in a person centred and trauma informed way.

I have also previously worked as an Independent Mental Health Advocate, supporting people who have been sectioned under the Mental Health Act to understand their rights and to express their views and wishes around their care.

What is Intuitive Psychology Coaching?

As a Master Intuitive Psychology Coach I help you to connect with your intuition, which holds all of the wisdom and answers that you need to connect with your true authentic self, heal yourself and to find peace and wholeness so you can work with the infinite strengths that come with being neurodivergent.

But what does that actually mean?

Our true authentic self is made up of lots of different parts and by both conscious and unconscious thoughts and behaviours. We often try to suppress the parts of us that we don't like and the emotions that come with these thoughts and behaviours. But this is where we can become stuck, because we only choose to accept or acknowledge the parts of us that we believe are ok, or that others perceive to be ok. Sadly, being neurodivergent means that you likely have even more negative labels and conditioning from your past that likely still impacts you now. Stories such as being 'too much', 'lazy', 'dramatic', 'too sensitive' etc etc have such a significant impact on how you see yourself and often results in a whole lot of shame that we carry.

As your coach, I will help you to explore what is going on for you on an unconscious level. These unconscious thoughts and beliefs often come out in ways such as self sabotaging behaviour, people pleasing, anxiety, low mood, guilt, shame and repeated cycles within your life. Being ADHD means that we have highly sensitive nervous systems that can become very easily dysregulated so I support you to learn to work with your nervous system and the capacity that it has each day. Having an ADHD brain means that you know how amazing your brain can be when it is on fire, so you probably put a lot of pressure on yourself to be like this all the time. But the overwhelm we experience is intense and I will help you to work within your capacity and to work with your brain and your heart in a way that works for you.

Most talking therapy focuses on a person's story, the narrative that is playing out in their head either from their past experiences or situations causing them distress in the present. Most coaching focuses solely on the future, by setting goals and relying on willpower to move people forwards. I am a huge advocate of counselling and any form of therapy, self development and increasing self awareness but often therapies focus solely on the conscious mind and this can be why these therapies have their limitations.

I can take you further and deeper than perhaps you have ever been before. Into the depths of your unconscious, to shine a light on the parts that have been put in the shadow. The parts that you dislike, the parts that you fear and ultimately the parts that are holding you back. Together, we will explore your past, present and future. Our past holds valuable lessons and experiences, which shape our present reality. By acknowledging and processing the past you can release any emotional burdens and attachments you have that are no longer serving you. I work with your present, as this is where transformation happens. I help you to cultivate a present that truly aligns with you by strengthening your intuition, so you become more attuned to your thoughts, feelings and physical sensations. Together we will explore your future. A future full of untapped potential and possibilities. But most importantly, a future for you. Not for anyone else. I will help you to create meaningful goals by aligning present actions with future aspirations so you can move forward with purpose, passion and authenticity.

The link between ADHD and Intuition

Intuition really is an ADHD superpower!

There are so many links between ADHD and Intuition and if cultivated, this can be a really powerful way of processing. Being highly intuitive can sometimes feel really overwhelming, being so sensitive to so many subtleties that many people miss. But intuition is like a muscle, the more you use it the stronger it becomes. This can help with reducing the overwhelm because it can feel less intrusive and more like a choice.

Many with ADHD are naturally intuitive but often this is in relation to other people, rather than themselves. Years of being told that we are doing things wrong and feeling like a failure can result in massively distrusting ourselves. This distrust means that we have often lost the intuitive connection with ourselves and have learnt to sit in our logical brain to try and keep us 'on track'. This is where my method of ADHD Coaching is so powerful, as I support you to connect with your intuition, so you can learn to use this superpower for yourself and to build self trust through connecting your heart and your brain. â€‹

These are some of the ways that ADHD an intuition are inextricably linked;

ADHD and Non-Linear Thinking

People with ADHD often process information in non-linear, associative ways. Instead of following a step by step logical path, your mind may jump quickly between ideas, sensing connections that others miss. This type of thinking overlaps with intuitive processing, which is fast, subconscious and based on pattern recognition rather than deliberate analysis.

Heightened Sensitivity

Many with ADHD describe themselves as highly sensitive to subtle cues such as tone of voice, body language and energy shifts in a room. This heightened awareness can feed intuition because intuition relies on picking up on micro-signals and unspoken dynamics.

Impulse vs Intuition

ADHD is associated with impulsivity, which can sometimes be confused with intuition.

The difference:

- Impulsivity is a fast reaction without reflection, often driven by dopamine seeking

- Intuition is a fast knowing that feels grounded, even without conscious reasoning

With self-awareness, people with ADHD can learn to discern the difference - harnessing intuition whilst calming impulsivity.

Creative Thinking

ADHD brains often excel at seeing patterns, generating ideas and making unexpected connections. This creative thinking is often incredibly helpful in problem solving.  This overlaps with how intuition works, noticing patterns beneath the surface and arriving at insights without needing all the data.

ADHD and Default Network Mode

The DNM is active during daydreaming , reflection and creative thought. In ADHD, the DMN is often more active and less inhibited, which means the brain drifts into associative, imaginative, and intuitive processing more easily.

Hyper Focus and Flow State

During hyperfocus, ADHD individuals may access flow states where intuition feels like effortless downloading of insights and creativity. This explains why many ADHD are successful entrepreneurs who create businesses from a place of alignment and authenticity, allowing their hyper focus to work for them.

Just a little note about... Pink

You may have noticed that my colour theme is very Pink.

There is actually a pretty poignant reason for this. It is a little bit of a shout out to a younger version of myself who absolutely hated and thoroughly rejected pink.

In my teenage years I was obviously struggling massively with my identity. Don't get me wrong, this is a right of passage for all teenagers but looking back now I can see why this felt even more impactful for me. I went through a significant phase of wearing very dark clothes. It wasn't a statement like many people around me. I didn't identify as a goth or anything like that. I just simply didn't want to stand out. I was desperately trying to hide. For so many years I had been branded as 'too dramatic', 'a drama queen' and an 'attention seeker'. I had also adopted the label of being 'cute' which I hated. So wearing dark clothes was my way of trying my hardest to reject these identities and to not stand out.

For so long, I totally rejected pink but now I love it. I love that it can be soft and calm or bold and bright. It can be all of the things that I am and is deeply connected with femininity and love.

I just wanted to explain because this is how my brain and my heart works. Everything has depth. Everything has meaning and everything is done with purpose. This is how I have always navigated life but now I realise why. I realise that this truly is a super strength of being ADHD and I hope that I can support you to connect your brain and your heart to work with all of your super strengths too.
